Vagamon Hill station Kerala

Vagamon is a hill station that lies in the border of Kottayam and Idukki district of Kerala. It is an interesting tourist hotspot for many and especially for the newly-weds and shutter bugs. The lush green plains, blue hills, meandering rivers, gushing waterfalls, fresh and breezy air and the deep pine forest contribute in making Vagamon a much sought-after holiday destination. Thangal Hill, Murugan Hill and Kurisumala ornate the small town with their natural beauty.

Things to do in Vagamon

Apart from being “a thing of beauty”, Vagamon provides a traveler several things to see and do. You can go for rock climbing, Trekking, mountaineering and paragliding. And if you not adventurous, you can sit back and admire the breathtaking surroundings and marvel at the variety of flowers and orchids that are found here. This pristine hill station is situated 1,100 metres above sea level. Vagamon is often called the ‘Scotland of Asia’. This place has been recorded as the ‘50 most attractive places to visit in India’ by the National Geographic Traveler.

Vagamon was brought to light by the British who felt that the place is suitable for tea plantations. They were soon followed by Christian missionaries who based themselves at Kurisumala.

There are many affordable fine resorts available in the surrounding areas. Thekkady, Peermade and Kulamavu are some other tourist hub reachable from Vagamon. The place experiences a very cordial climate throughout the year.
