Thommankuthu Waterfalls Nearby Tourist Places

Thommankuthu is a series of 12 waterfalls in the Kaliyar forest range which is located in Idukki district. It extends upto 5 kms. There are a number of caves surrounding these falls. It is a 7 step fall and at each step there are pools and cascades. The water falls from a height of 1.5km. The Thommankuthu derives its name from the tribal leader Thomban who was washed away near the waterfall while he was crossing the river. The beauty of this waterfall attracts a large number of tourists.

Ecotourism Activities

This is a favorite picnic spot to all the tourists and a 12 km trek can take one to the top of the mountain. Some other activities include trekking, night camping, boating, bird watching etc.

Around 25 km from Thodupuzha lies the rainbow waterfalls which is covered by forests.
