Thaikadappuram Beach a Tourist Place to Visit in Kasargod

Nileshwaram is a quiet and peaceful town which is located in the district of Kasargod. Situated around 40 km south of Kasargod in Hosdurg taluk, it actually lies between the two rivers, i.e. Nileshwaram and Karyangodu. This wonderful spot is not very well known in the tourist circles and hence it is not very crowded. The specialties of this place are old markets, a weaver street and kavuus (sacred grooves). This charming town is also the cultural centre of Kasargod district, thus this abode also host numerous festivals, art and dance forms which are very popular here.

Thaikadppuram is a small town in Nileshwaram municipality in Kasargod district, in Kerala India. Thaikadppuram is a small but very beautiful place snuggled between the gorgeous Arabian Sea and Thejeswini River. The confluence point of the sea and the river is situated here forming a scintillating beach called as Thaikkadappuram Beach.

Attractions

Thaikkadappuram Beach is much renowned for rare Olive Ridley Turtles which visit during the rainy season to lay eggs. Members of Neythal, a non – governmental organization, run an Olive Ridley Breeding centre here. This scintillating beach with a natural beauty of its own attracts numerous tourists throughout the year. The beach as it is not very familiar with the travelers thus is not at all crowded and an ideal place to enjoy a laid back holiday. The serene beach is amazingly endowed by the swaying palm trees which absolutely give a shade from the scorching heat. The virgin sandy beach thus is very worth to visit and enjoy a peaceful and leisure holiday.

Apart from the serene beach the other attraction here is the longest foot bridge of the state which is built across Tejaswini River during the year 2000. This bridge spans 400 meters and joins Nileshwaram with nearby Cheruvathur.

Sacred Grooves also known as Kavuu in the local language Malayalam are tiny forests adjoining small but splendid temples. This sacred groove consists of rare species of flora, fauna and avifauna which also provides wide arrays of medicinal plants, orchids, creepers and climbers.

Cheruvathur, Veeramala Hills, Hosdurg Fort, Hosdurg Beach and Valiyaparamba Backwaters are some of the prime attractions which truly will give you the traditional taste of Kerala.
