Nedumpoil is a small village in the Kannur district of Kerala, South India. It is situated between two major towns, Thalassery and Mananthavady.
Nedumpoil sits at the junction of roads from Thalassery (through Kuthuparamba), Kottiyoor and Manathavady. Nedumpoil is near to the famous temple Kottiyoor. Jimmy George (born March 8, 1955 at Peravoor, died November 30, 1987) was a professional volleyball player from Kerala, India. He was the first Indian volleyball player to become a professional and played in Italy.

ARALAM WILDLIFE SANCTUARY: The Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over 55 sq km of undulating forested highlands on the slopes of the Western Ghats. The highest peak here – Katti Betta – rises to a majestic 1145 m above sea level.

Covered with tropical and semi evergreen forests, the Aralam Sanctuary is home to a vast variety of flora and fauna endemic to the Western Ghats. Elephant, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, barking deer, Nilgiri langur, Hanuman langur, Malabar giant squirrel, etc can be seen here.

Aralam, a village in Thalassery, Kannur, is also noted for the Central State Farm, a 3060 hectare farm started in 1971 by the Government of India. This is one of the main production centres of hybrid coconut seeds in the country.

PAYYANNUR  is located in Kannur district, 36km from Kannur, Payyannur is the ancient Panchayath area thickly populated buy Hindus, Muslims and Christians. This is an important Khadi producing centre.Payyannore Perumal temple is an important Hindu temple open to known Hindus also.

EZHIMALA: A small hilly town besides the sea is perched at a height of 885ft and is located 55km from Kannur town. An ancient mosque, atop the hill is worth a visit. The combination of high hills and beautiful beach has made Ezhimala a popular tourist resort. Ezhimala has also been ear-marked for setting up a Country’s as well as Asia’s largest Naval Academy. A wealth of rare medicinal herbs is also found in Ezhimala and surrounding areas.

THALIPARAMBU is located in Kannur district. The Thiru Chabaram Vishnu Temple at Thaliparambu is an example of medieval architecture, stone walls, murals and woodcraft.

PARSSINIKADAVU: It is located in Kannur district and is situated in Parassinikkadavu snake Farm. The snake Farm is located 14km from Kannur. It is dedicated to preservation and conversation of the snakes. There is a rich collection of snake species housed in hygienic and scientifically maintained pits and glass cages. The various poisonous and non-poisonous verities of snakes in the farm are cobras, king kobra, russel viper, pit viper, python etc.

THALASSERY  : The historic town is located 20km south of Kannur. The British East India Company established its settlement in 1683 and later built an impressive fort. It is famous for producing most of the India’s circus artists. The gymnastic tradition was introduced here in the schools by the German missionaries.

MAHE  : The tiny enclave of Pondichery UT on the west coast was once under the French governance. It is known for the sea skirting roads and unique culture with French flavor.

KOTTIYUR  : There is a Siva Temple here on the banks of the Bavalu River. Thousands of devotees attend the annual 27 day festival during May-June.

VALAPATTANAM  : 7 kms from Kannur district, The small town on the Valapattanam river is well known for its wood-based industries and timber trade. The port of Azhikkal and Azhikkal Beach are located nearby. Western India Plywoods Limited, the largest of its kind in South East Asia, is a major industrial concern here.
