Nadukani

Nadukani which means ‘ to see the country ‘ is an ideal tourist location offering a panoramic view of Idukki and Ernakulam districts.  Its an ideal place for one – day picnics where you can enjoy the beauty of nature.  The view of enchanting blue mountains, towns and lakes remains in memory for a long time.

Nadukani is located about 25 km from Idukki and is situated at an altitude of 3000 ft above sea level.  This hill station offers a clear view of the Muvattupuzha River, Moolamattom town, Malankara Reservoir and picturesque mountains touching the sky.  There is a two -storeyed pavilion that makes a safe place to enjoy the landscape.  Tourists can also enjoy trekking in the hill forests of NadukaniNadukani offers all the visitors a great time enjoying the awesome beauty of the greenish surroundings.

Nadukani is about 70 km from Thodupuzha and is widely known for its beautiful location at the top of the hill.  On the sunny day, Nadukani offers a clear view of areas extending to Thodupuzha. This hill station is one of the boundaries of Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary and hence visitors can enjoy the sight of the many rare species of fauna such as hornbill, wild rabbits, jungle mainah and elephants.

This wonderful location attracts a lot of one – day picnickers every year. There are many nearby attractions here, that encourages tourists to visit this popular hill station.  Moolamattom Underground Powerstation is one among the attractions near ‘Nadukani’.  It is the biggest underground hydro – electric power station in India.  Moolamattom Power station lies in the most picturesque spot and is located on the banks of Thodupuzha River.  Its one of the widely visited destinations for study tour packages.  Visitors are only allowed to visit the area under special permissions due to security reasons.

Situated at a height of 1300 ft above sea level, Chamundi Hill Palace Resort is another attraction situated at Nadukani, near Edakunnam. This resort lies in a peaceful environment in the middle of the greenish beauty of nature and offers traditional Ayurvedic healing in the soul soothing cool climate.

The best time to visit Nadukani is October – January.  Mountains covered with mist gives you an amazing sight and makes you feel the fresh and crispy air.  Nadukani pavilion can be easily accessed by road.  Food and accommodation facilities are also available at Nadukani offering you a comfortable and refreshing stay.
