Moppila beach is located in Ayikkara in Kannur district. The bay is a very famous fishing harbour and is near the St.Angelo’s Fort. On the other side of the bay is the Arakkal Palace. The sea is separated from the inland water by a wall that extends from the fort. This bay was significant in the olden times as a commercial harbor because it connected Kolathunadu with Lakshadweep and other foreign countries. Some remnants of ancient temples and fort can also be seen there now. The fishing harbor has now been modernized with the help of Indo Norwegian pact.
