Kottiyoor is small village situated in Kannur district, bordered by Wayanad district, in the Kerala state.

Kottiyoor offers the nature lover a large variety of wildlife attractions. The Bandipur National Park is around the Kottiyoor forests. There is a large variety of birds and seasonal butterflies. There is also the trekkers’ dream hilltop of Palukachipara. The Thirunelli temple in Wayanad, revered as the ‘southern Kasi’, is only 24 k.m. away from Kottiyoor.

The festival at Kottiyoor in Kannur district involves two temples, situated on the opposite banks of River Bavali – Akkare Kottiyoor and Ikkare Kottiyoor. The annual Kottiyoor festival is celebrated for twenty-eight days and it falls during the months of May and June. Here, the Neyyattam ritual on the first day and the Thirukalasattu ritual on the concluding day are attended by hundreds of devotees.
