Pavakka Mezhukkupuratti Bitter gourds are very low in calories but dense with precious nutrients. Ingredients: Pavakka (Bitter Gourd) : 2 nos Onion (Large) – 1 no Green Chillies – 2 nos (Cut legth wise at the bottom only) Coconut slices – 1/2 cup Oil – 4 tbsp Turmeric Powder (optional) – 1/4 tsp Salt – as required Method: Cut Pavakka length wise. Slice the onions thin. Pour oil into a hard bottomed pan and add Pavakka and Onion slices, along with green chillies and coconut slices. Add salt and turmeric powder. Cook covered on low flame for about 2 minutes. Open the lid and cook on low flame, for another 5-6 minutes, until the rawness of the vegetable disappears. Pavakka Mezhukkupuratti is ready to serve with Rice.
