Gavi Ecotourism Kerala

Gavi is located around 40 kms away from Kumili and is covered by tea plantations. On the way to Gavi one can enjoy the beautiful scenery of hills, valleys, grasslands, forests, plantations, waterfalls etc. This place is an attraction for the bird lovers as there are about 260 species of birds here. The Pamba reservoir is also near to it. Some of the animals found here include Nilgiri tahr and lion tailed macaque. Gavi has gain wide recognition that it is considered as one of the must see places in India.

Ecotourism Activities


The ecotourism activities which the tourists can involve trekking, bird watching, boating etc. The tourists can have a view of the Sabarimala from the Pullumedu peak. The tourists can hike to Meenar, Chenthamara Kokka and Valley View which enables them to have a spectacular view of the forests below. For all these trekkings and hikes the tribes accompany the tourists as guides. An important activit which is liked by all is the night-camping in the forests.

Near to Gave lies the Paradise cove at Ninnumulli. Some other interesting places to watch include Kullur, Kochu Pampa, Pullumedu and Pachakanam. The visitors are also permitted to go to the nearby cardamom factory and take a leisure walk through the plantation.
