Chavara Bhavan

Chavara Bhavan is located within 6 km from Alappuzha district in Kerala. It is situated in a Kainkary village. It is ancestral abode of sacred Kuriakose Elias Chavara. Currently it is changed as holy shrine and religious place where large numbers of devotees gather and offer prayer to the god. Other attractive thing seen in Chavara Bhavan is beacon lamp. It is 450 years old lamp which is preserved well as it was in original form. You can reach this place only through boat. The major festival of Chavara Bhavan is celebrated annually during the month of January 3rd. During this festival, the mass prayer is held. On January 2nd, the idol of blessed Chavara is taken as procession throughout the village. Every day mass prayer is held in this place from 7.00 am to 4.30 pm and every Saturday holy mass and novena is held at 4.30 pm. In addition, special prayer is held every month of first Saturday.
